New Orleans After the Saints Game NOPSI Hotel

NOPSI Hotel
The Saints game was over by mid-afternoon that Sunday and probably over 70,000 people poured out into the streets making their way to their vehicles, hotels or bars. We were right in the middle of them. I love leaving the Superdome and walking right down the middle of Poydras Street with everyone else like a Mardi Gras parade of people through New Orleans' Central Business District.
We were surrounded by football fans yelling and chanting 'Who Dat'. Tailgate parties were still going on in nearby parking lots and every bar we passed was full of black and gold jerseys.

Kevin, Chris, Tracy and I made our way back to our room at the Fairfield on Baronne Street which was maybe only about six or seven blocks from the Superdome. A quick change of clothes, a round of drinks and we were back out the door bar hoping in New Orleans.

Our first stop was at the NOPSI Hotel which is only a block away from the Fairfield. I picked that hotel because it has a rooftop pool and bar and I could see it from our room at the Fairfield. It really is a nice place and, as far as I could tell, open to the public - named Above the Grid Bar and located on the 9th floor of the hotel.

The four of us checked it out and took a few pictures, but we did not stay. Unless you were in the pool, it was wayyyyyy too hot. I would definitely go back to the Above the Grid bar, but it would have to be closer to sunset or at least when it is not so unbearably hot. Above the Grid has public pool and bar access on certain days. Check their website for details.

As our second choice, we got drinks in the NOPSI Hotel bar (underCURRENT) and sat and leisurely drank our drinks watching people walking down the street and admiring the lobby's lofty vaulted ceilings and decor. underCURRENT also has a spacious patio section on the corner intersection - very nice patio furniture to spend the afternoon after the sun puts the patio in the shade.

After just one round of drinks at NOPSI Hotel, we walked back out onto Baronne Street and back towards Poydras Street. We stopped briefly at Le Pavillon Hotel which is a ritzy hotel on Poydras Street and Baronne Street. We did not go up, but I see a rooftop pool on its website. I may have to stay there next trip (sorry Marriott).

GEAUX SAINTS!

After drinks at Le Pavillon Hotel, we took an Uber over to the Garden District (not very far at all, but too far to walk).
